At a dinner hosted by the Premier Sir Toke Talagi and Cabinet with Scenic Matavai Board of directors, who invited Members of Parliament, Government Officials, Village Councils Representatives, Private Sector officials, held at the Scenic Matavai Conference Centre, to farewell H E Ross Ardern and Mrs Laurel Ardern. Mrs Laurel Ardern left on this Tuesday flight but H E Ross Ardern will leave the following week. On their return, they will be taking a holiday before embarking on yet another Pacific appointment, this time it will be in Tokelau. In his Farewell speech, H E Ross Ardern, reflected on his experiences over the last eight years on Niue. His first four years as Chief of Police and returning four years ago as New Zealand High Commission to Niue Island. They have thoroughly enjoyed time on Niue, a place they now call their home away from home. Although they will leave the Rock as their contract came to an end, they will always be remembered by the many friends they have made while working on the Island. In the Premier’s speech, he reiterated that it has never been the practice for the Government to farewell a highly appointed post of this nature in the past, however in this case it was an exception, as the relationship that His Excellency have built since he came to Niue. FAKAUE LAHI Your Excellency and Mrs Laurel Ardern from all the people of Niue, your second home, and please do come back again. God Bless.
